Zmitser Mitskevich, a journalist of the Belsat TV channel, and Siarhei Kavaliou, a cameraman, were detained during a broadcast from a picket for collecting signatures for the nomination of Alexander Lukashenko as a presidential candidate. Eight plain-clothed men detained Mitskevich and Kavaliou. The journalists were put into a bus and taken to an unknown destination. They were held at the police for three hours, after which they were released. The officer drew up reports on the journalists under Article 22.9 of the Code of Administrative Offences of the Republic of Belarus (violation of the law on mass media) and confiscated all the equipment, including the cell phones. On June 18, the court fined the journalists.
