The Russian Ministry of Justice has added film critic Zinaida Pronchenko to its register of “foreign agents.” The ministry stated that she opposed the military operation in Ukraine, participated in creating and distributing materials for foreign agents or “undesirable” organizations, disseminated “unreliable information about the decisions and policies of Russian authorities,” and interacted with other “foreign agents.” Pronchenko has contributed to various Moscow publications and worked for the magazine Iskusstvo Kino (The Art of Cinema). In 2025, she was appointed editor-in-chief of Republic. She has been living abroad since 2022.
