On February 1, the Bishkek City Court considered the appeal of the defence of two journalists of Temirov Live who were detained in January. The court recognised the detention as lawful. The journalist was detained and arrested on January 16 along with other journalists of Temirov Live. His flat was searched. On January 17, the Pervomaysky District Court of Bishkek placed the detainees in the detention centre. Zhumabek was a staff member of Temirov Live from 2021-2022, and after that, he opened his own media project and planned to develop it. Turdaliyev, as well as other members of the Temirov Live team, is charged under Article 278 of the Criminal Code of the Kyrgyz Republic (calls for mass rios). The criminal article provides for up to 8 years in prison. According to the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the reason for the case was one of the materials of Temirov Live in December 2023, where experts found signs of calls for mass riots.
