On 11 August, security officials detained journalist Yury Shamshur while he was covering a peaceful protest against the presidential election results. The journalist had a "press" label. During the arrest, he was severely beaten. He was pushed into a police van; he was also beaten, humiliated and threatened. He was released about an hour later.
