The Salihorsk District Court of the Minsk Region has declared the content of the YouTube channel Zerkalo (identifier: youtube.com/@ZERKALOIO) to be extremist informational material. Zerkalo is the largest independent Belarusian media outlet operating in exile. Its website and other social media resources had previously been recognised as “extremist”. In June 2023, Zerkalo was designated an “extremist formation” in Belarus. On the basis of the court’s decision, the Ministry of Information of Belarus has added the internet resource to the Republican List of Extremist Materials. Under Belarusian law, the distribution and storage of materials recognised as extremist entail administrative liability for both publishers and users.
