Yevgeniya Baltatarova, the journalist from Buryatia, was detained on November 2 at the passport control of Almaty airport when she tried to fly to Bishkek. Two criminal cases were opened against her under Article 207.3 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (distribution of «fakes» about the army) — for publications on the Telegram channel Baba Yaga Protiv about the events in Mariupol and Bucha. Baltatarova was taken to the police department at the airport. The officers searched her and took away her phone, laptop, and other things, up to a comb and wet wipes. Baltatarova was taken for a medical examination, while she was handcuffed. The policemen promised her that they would put her in a detention center for the night, but eventually, they returned her to the department. The police officers called the prosecutor, who said that Baltatarova’s article was «not for deportation». After that, they let her go, returning her things.
