Human rights activist Yelena Semenova, who deals with the rights of prisoners, was ordered by the court to publish a refutation on Facebook and pay KZT 50,000 (more than USD 100) as compensation for moral damage. The reason for the court proceedings was Semenova’s post published in the social network that the convict was forced to commit an act of self-mutilation to attract attention and save a woman from daily rape by the staff of the institution.
