Instead of a year and a half of the restriction of liberty, Yaroslav Shirshikov was sentenced to seven months in a penal colony on charges of calling for mass riots (Part 3 of Article 212 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation) and libel with the accusation of a person of a serious crime (Part 5 of Article 128.1 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation). The case was based on a post about protests against the construction of a temple and a letter to Vladimir Putin about the creation of the Ural Republic. The «victim» in this case was Nikolay Tsukanov, the Ural Federal District ambassador.
