Yan was detained near the building of the Oktyabrsky District Department of Internal Affairs of Grodno. The journalist came there to find out about a colleague who had been detained the day before. During the arrest, Jan Roman’s four teeth were knocked out, then he laid on the ground and beaten with truncheons. The journalist was taken to the ROVD, where his captors refused to call for medical assistance, and left him in the isolation ward for the night. On August 11, the court fined the journalist, after which he was released. Roman went to the hospital: in addition to knocked out teeth, his nose and facial bone were broken. There is a huge hematoma around his eye.
