The Lyubertsy City Court sentenced Alexander Dorogov to ten and a half years in a strict regime colony and his colleague Yan Katelevsky to nine and a half years in a strict regime colony. The journalists were found guilty of extortion: the first one was charged with Parts 2 and 3 of Article 163 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation, the second one with Part 3 of Article 163 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation. According to the investigation, they asked traffic police inspector Pavel Gorokhov for more than a million rubles for refusal to publish «discrediting» materials. The journalists called their criminal prosecution fabricated. They linked the case to their professional activities. Katelevsky and Dorogov have been under arrest since June 2020.
