Yahor Martinovich, editor-in-chief of the Nasha Niva and Andrey Skurko, head of the advertising and marketing department, were taken into custody. The employees of Nasha Niva were detained on July 8 on suspicion of organising group actions that grossly violate the public order under Part 1 of Article 342 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Belarus. Searches were conducted in their houses, as well as in the editorial office and the accounting office. The Ministry of Information also restricted access to the website nn.by. The detainees were taken to the detention centre on Akrestsina Street. Ten days later, they were not charged with anything but still were not released, being detained again for another three days under Part 2 of Article 216 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Belarus (infliction of property damage without signs of theft, committed by a group of persons by prior agreement, or on a large scale).
