The journalist was detained by security officials when he was covering a protest action in the city's centre. He was taken to the police department, where two administrative reports were drawn up on him: for alleged disobedience to police demands (Article 23.4 of the Code of Administrative Offences of the Republic of Belarus) and participation in an unauthorized event (Article 23.34 of the Code of Administrative Offences of the Republic of Belarus). He was held in the detention centre for two days until the trial. On October 19, the court found Zarubin guilty and arrested him for 15 days.
