Additional information:
The Vasileostrovsky District Court of St. Petersburg announced the verdict in the case of Vladimir Shevchenko, the editor-in-chief of the portal FinNews. The court found him guilty of extorting funds from Rosselkhozbank, however, not on a particularly large scale, as was stated earlier, but on a large scale (Paragraph B of Part 3 of Article 163 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation). Thus, the sentence was 3 years in a general regime colony, but the journalist was released in the courtroom, as the time spent in pre-trial detention centre and under house arrest was counted in the appointed term. Shevchenko was also banned from engaging in professional activities, i.e. publishing anything about banking organisations, for two years from the moment the verdict comes into force.
