On August 5, journalists and human rights activists were not allowed into the building of the Leninsky District police department of Mogilev, where their arrested colleague Aljaksandr Burakou was at that time. A little later, Laptsevich was summoned to the police department for questioning about the complaint and was arrested there. Laptsevich was placed in the pre-trial detention centre until trial. The journalist went on a hunger strike. On August 7, the court found him guilty of disobeying police orders and arrested him for 12 days.
