On August 5, journalists and human rights activists were not allowed into the building of the Leninsky District police department of Mogilev, where their arrested colleague Alexander Burakov was at that time. A little later, Laptsevich was summoned to the police department for questioning about the complaint and was arrested there. Laptsevich was placed in the pre-trial detention center awaiting trial. The journalist went on a hunger strike. On August 7, the court found him guilty of disobeying police orders and arrested him for 12 days. During the trial, the journalist said that at the police department, he was handcuffed, his head was hit on the floor, and he was threatened with a «swallow» torture.
