A police officer came to the journalist’s home one morning, handing him a summons that required him to appear for questioning, that same day, as a witness in a criminal case regarding damage to police officers’ personal vehicles. During the interrogation, Laptsevich was asked “whether he is a member of any extremist groups.” Officers also demanded that the journalist hand over their phone for examination: they made a note of the IMEI number, looked through the contacts list and messages, then returned it.
