Vitaly Votanovsky, a former volunteer of Navalny’s headquarters in Krasnodar and a military pensioner, said that he started receiving threats after he published photos from the cemetery of PMC Wagner in Kuban. He received a phone call from men who introduced themselves as employees of a ritual service and offered to buy a place in the cemetery «at a discount for use in the next two years.» They also added that they could process his photo for a monument free of charge. Votanovsky links the threats to an article about him in the media outlet Zhivaya Kuban. The article called the activist a «foreign agent» and a «Zelensky supporter» who should be «held accountable». The author of the article claimed to know Votanovsky’s home address.
