Victoria Amelina became the victim of a targeted shelling of a popular catering establishment in Kramatorsk. She travelled to the region together with a group of Colombian writers and journalists to investigate and document the murder of prose writer and poet Volodymyr Vakulenko in Izyumshchyna. Before the full-scale invasion, Victoria Amelina was known as a writer, but after February 2022, she switched her activities to documenting war crimes. On July 1, Victoria Amelina died as a result of injuries sustained in the attack.
