The court in Almaty considered a claim for protection of honour, dignity, and business reputation of the Department of Civil Service Agency in the Abay region against the owner of Total.kz, Total Media Qazaqstan LLP, and Vasily Smirnov, the author of the article «Urankhayev and Zhazykbayev: how to cover up the wife of the akim?». The plaintiff demands to refute the following phrase from the article about the road accident involving the wife of the Akim of the Ayagoz district of the East Kazakhstan region: «Later, rumours spread among the residents of Ayagoz that allowed the head of the district to get awat: allegedly, «a common language with the employees of the authorised body in the field of public service was found». On 9 November 2023, the court ruled and denied the Department’s claims.
