The 72-year-old editor-in-chief of the newspaper Sovremennaya Kalmykia Valery Badmayev is being prosecuted for «discrediting» the army (Article 280.3 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation). He was banned from using the Internet and the phone until February 28. Badmayev’s apartment was searched and his passport, laptop, phone, and router were confiscated. Later, he was sent for interrogation. He spent 24 hours in a pre-trial detention center. The journalist is being prosecuted for the publication of a video in which a man who introduced himself as an «Azov soldier» talks about the actions of the Russian army.
