The Investigative Committee in Penza initiated a case against the blogger Valentin Snegiryov because of an article about the costs for the military involved in the «special operation» in Ukraine. Snegiryov was charged with libel (Article 128.1 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation). The reason for criminal prosecution was the publication in which the blogger analyzed payments to participants of the war in Ukraine. The man suggested that the money was coming from the Penza region budget which was already in deficit. The case against Snegiryov was opened after a denunciation by the governor of the region Oleg Melnichenko. Snegiryov himself is currently in Israel, as reported by OVD-Info.
