The Neftchala District Court accepted a private criminal complaint against an online activist Vafa Naghi. The plaintiff is Alibala Salimov, Head of the Municipal Council, demanding Naghi to be punished on insult and slander charges. The lawsuit claims that she allegedly damaged Salimov’s business reputation and humiliated him. He, therefore, requested her prosecution under Art. 147.1 (defamation), 147.2 (defamation of a serious crime) and 148 (insult) of the Criminal Code of Azerbaijan.
