The Gelendzhik City Court sentenced blogger Vadim Kharchenko to seven years in prison. He was found guilty of “discrediting” the army (part 1 of article 280.3 of the Criminal Code), insulting the feelings of believers (part 1 of article 148 of the Criminal Code), calling for extremism (part 2 of article 280 of the Criminal Code), and defamation (part 5 of article 128.1 of the Criminal Code). He was also banned from administering online resources for three years. Vadim Kharchenko is the author of the YouTube channel “Personal Opinion,” which had over 400,000 subscribers. The blogger posted videos criticising the Russian authorities and the Krasnodar region. The channel is currently unavailable.
