Journalist Vadim Boreyko, the creator and presenter of Youtube channel 'Giperborey' (Hyperborea), reported via Facebook that a series of cyberattacks targeting him had taken place on the 4th of January. According to Boreyko, he received an email imitating a traffic fine, though the fine was in rubles (as opposed to UAH). Boreyko noted that he has never owned a car, which testifies to the fraudulent nature of the email. After the New Year his Instagram account with 113 thousand followers was blocked, and on the third of January there were over 30 attempts by Egyptian and Sudanese numbers to add him to Whatsapp groups with names written in arabic scripts, and to make him the administrator of these groups. Despite his attempts to block these numbers, Boreyko's account was quickly blocked by Whatsapp. Boreyko thinks that these attacks are linked to the fraudulent email, and warned his subscribers to check all links and email addresses carefully.
