The blogger Umid Khamidov was arrested for 15 days for violating quarantine rules and for petty hooliganism. He disseminated a video at the statue of Amir Timur (Tamerlane), asking him when “will coronavirus leave Uzbekistan”. Appearance in public places without personal protection (masks) is supposed to be punishable by a fine, not 15 days in jail. The court considered the post to be disrespect to the historical person of Amir Timur. Furthermore, the video “demonstrated actions expressing deliberate disrespect for the rules of behaviour in public”.
