Blogger and former employee of the ONT TV channel Uladzislau Savin was sentenced to two years in prison for insulting Alexander Lukashenko (Part 1 of Article 368 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Belarus). Prosecutor Vadzim Karachun said that the «insult» was noticed in the text of Savin’s appeal, which he drew up after the first sentence. «While in the detention center, he prepared an appeal containing obscene language of an insulting nature against the President of Belarus, and then, expecting to familiarize a wide range of people with it, passed it to the administration staff for further submission to the Minsk City Court», — he said.
