Uladzimir Luniou was detained by riot policemen on August 10 while he was covering a peaceful protest against the results of the presidential election. The journalist was wearing a vest with the inscription «Press» on it. During the detention, he was severely beaten, then taken to the detention centre, where he was kept for 34 hours in inhuman conditions. The police drew a report on him for violation of the law on mass actions (Article 23.34 of the Code of Administrative Offences of the Republic of Belarus). Luniou was released on August 12.
