On July 19, 2021, the Total.kz news portal published the article «What does the son of the akim of East Kazakhstan region own?», which talked about the business assets of the family of Daniyal Akhmetov, Akim of the East Kazakhstan region. On July 27, the material was removed from the website due to pressure from the people mentioned in the article.
