Journalist Tokhniyaz Kuchukov in his publication tells about a long period of covert surveillance by the investigative authorities, starting in 2018. At that time, he covered the events related to the murder of an Almaty customs officer and the investigation of the case against the head of the investigative team, the head of the Almaty Prosecutor’s Office Department, Viktor Tikhonov. Kuchukov also mentions Tikhonov’s acquittal after his conviction. According to the journalist, he recently learned that he had been named as Tikhonov’s «corrupt liaison» in the financial police. He is credited with receiving money from the prosecutor for materials on the murder of a customs officer. On the basis of these accusations, an order was issued to conduct covert actions against Kuchukov. The journalist specifies that he has not been summoned to investigative actions, has not been subjected to attempts to detain or search, and he does not know his status in Tikhonov’s criminal case.
