A criminal case has been opened against Timur Olevsky, a journalist with The Insider, for allegedly participating in the activities of an “undesirable” organisation. According to a statement from the Moscow prosecutor’s office, Olevsky has continued to take part in the outlet’s work as editor-in-chief despite previous fines for involvement in an “undesirable” organisation. The statement cites three videos on the Insider Live YouTube channel that allegedly “promote anti-Russian rhetoric, foster negative views of Russia’s domestic and foreign policy, and discredit state authorities.” The Prosecutor General’s Office designated The Insider as “undesirable” on July 15, 2022.
