On July 22, the Civil Court of Appeal satisfied the appeal of Lidian Armenia CJSC against the verdict of the court of first instance, which obliged the defendant, journalist Tehmine Yenokyan, to refute the information about the mentioned CJSC published on Facebook, which was considered libel, to pay AMD 120,000 as state duty and AMD 100,000 to pay the plaintiff’s lawyer. The court of appeal toughened the measure of responsibility by its ruling: besides the obligation to refute the statements, the court obliged the journalist to pay compensation to Lidian Armenia CJSC — AMD 500,000 for libel and AMD 500,000 for insult, as well as AMD 24,000 as state duty, AMD 200,000 to pay the plaintiff’s lawyer. On August 29, the journalist filed an appeal with the Court of Cassation of the Republic of Armenia, but the court upheld the ruling of the court of appeal.
