Independent journalist Tatul Hakobyan, who was on a business trip to the United States to conduct a series of lectures for Armenian diaspora, students, business people, and public figures, said that he received threats through Facebook and other social networks, including those concerning his life. According to the journalist, threats are coming from Armenia and certain Armenian circles in the United States, and the reason for the threats was his statement, «for me, Armenia is where the Armenian soldiers stand». Hakobyan appealed for support to law enforcement bodies, journalistic organizations, Human Rights Defender of the Republic of Armenia, and to the United States Embassy in Armenia, promising later to name those who threatened him.
