Additional information:

Roskomnadzor issued a warning to the magazine Tatarstan and its founder, the state holding Tatmedia. According to Roskomnadzor, the cover of the magazine’s January issue incited «national and religious discord». Two paintings by artist Alfrid Shaimardanov were combined on the cover. On the left half, a cat with dark fur sat against a red sunset and the Annunciation Cathedral of the Kazan Kremlin, while on the right half, behind the white cat’s back, was Kazan’s Kul-Sharif Mosque and a bright sky. The collage was accompanied by the inscription: «From black to white, from old to new, from past to future». The Sorok Sorokov Movement complained to the Investigative Committee about the cover, claiming that it «smells of separatism, which dampens the persistent odour of extremism».
