The journalist was detained by the security forces when she was covering a street protest action on the instructions of the editorial board. She was taken to the police station, where she was accused of participating in an unauthorized event (Article 23.34 of the Administrative Code). Before the trial, she was kept in the isolation ward for almost a day, despite Zenina being the mother of a minor child and the only breadwinner. On December 28, the court found her guilty and issued a large fine based on the police protocol.
