Additional information:
On March 17, the editor-in-chief of Uralskaya Nedelya Tamara Yeslyamova was found guilty of committing an administrative offence — conducting a public opinion poll without complying with the requirements of the election laws of the Republic of Kazakhstan. The court fined Yeslyamova KZT 51,750 tenge (about USD 110). Administrative proceedings were initiated in connection with a pre-election poll held on February 20 on the topic: «For which party will you vote on March 19?». The court considered that by publishing the poll in the Telegram channel of Uralskaya Nedelya, Yeslyamova had violated an article of the election law, namely, the legal requirement to conduct opinion polls by legal entities with at least five years of experience in conducting polls that have previously notified the Central Election Commission. On April 4, the appeal instance left Tamara Yeslyamova’s complaint against the ruling of the administrative court without satisfaction.
