The Moscow City Court approved the arrest in absentia of Svetlana Sokova, an opposition video blogger. She is prosecuted under articles on calls to terrorism and extremism on the Internet (Part 2 of Article 205.2 and Part 2 of Article 280 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation), incitement of hatred by the threat of violence (Paragraph A of Part 2 of Article 282 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation), and calling for mass riots (Part 3 of Article 212 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation). The case was opened because of the videos that, according to investigators, Sokova posted on her YouTube channel Voleizyavleniye as well as on the channel of the deceased video blogger Klava Belova (Anastasia Metelskaya). Sokova communicated with Metelskaya until the latter’s death in November 2021. According to law enforcement officers, Sokova made publications in which she called for a popular uprising against forced vaccination on January 15.
