Berezovskaya was a witness in the case of journalist Igor Rudnikov, accused of extortion. Later, the case was reclassified, and Rudnikov was released. In early October, a new series of searches were conducted in the editorial office and the apartments of the employees of Novye Kolesa. Berezovskaya asked for political asylum in Sweden but was turned down. She is facing deportation to Russia.
