Journalist Zhanbolat Mamai, published in the opposition newspaper "Political Pen: Tribune" was sentenced by a court in Almaty to three years of restriction of freedom. The court found him guilty of laundering funds, allegedly illegally withdrawn from BTA Bank through the editorial office of his newspaper. Three years of restriction of freedom with confiscation of property and a ban on journalistic activity for a period of three years concluded the almost month-long trial in the case of journalist Zhanbolat Mamai.
