On January 28, a “voters’ strike” took place in Volgograd at the same time as in other Russian cities, organised by the local Navalny headquarters. The rally, as well as the procession after it, was unsanctioned, and police began to detain participants on Komsomolskaya Street after several warnings. Among the 50 people taken to the central police department were the editor-in-chief and photographer for the website V1.ru, as well as member of the editorial staff for “of the editorial offices of Novosti Volgograda, FederalPress, Volzsky.ru and a cameraman for the news agency V102.ru. The journalists were driven around the centre of Volgograd for over an hour before being taken to the department.
