On December 21, 2017, "Caucasian Knot" journalist Vyacheslav Prudnikov was wounded by gunfire in an armed attack in Rostov Oblast. Prudnikov thinks that the attack was linked to his professional activities at “Caucasian Knot”: "I took out my camera to take some pictures. Suddenly a grey car pulled up. A young man jumped out of it, demanding to know what I was doing. With the words "I’ve had enough of you writing about power", he began to shoot. I covered my face with my hand, the bullet hit my elbow. Then I tried to run away, and the second bullet hit me just under the ribs. There was a fight, the man tried to hit me, and then snatched the gun" said Prudnikov.
