Tokbergen Abiev, head of the Kazakhstan Media Alliance "Law and Justice", and Azamat Tanatarov, a businessman, were convicted by the Aktau City Court under part 2, article 130 in the Criminal Code of the Republic of Kazakhstan on "slander." Tokbergen Abiev was detained in the courtroom. He was sentenced to a year in prison.
