In Saryarkin District Court No. 2 in Nur-Sultan a trial has begun in the case of activist Serik Zhakhin, who is accused of writing Facebook posts about the banned organisation "Democratic Choice of Kazakhstan" in Kazakhstan (DCK). Supporters and local activists came to support him. 60-year-old Serik Zhakhin has been in custody since June 7th. A criminal case has been opened against him on charges of "participation in the activities of a banned extremist organisation" (Article 405 of the Criminal Code of Kazakhstan).
