On 27th December 2016, Aktobe resident Sanat Dosov was found guilty of inciting social discord using telecommunications networks (part 1, article 174 of the Criminal Code of Kazakhstan). Aktobe court No. 2 sentenced him to three years in prison. On 15th February, the appeals panel of the Aktobe Regional Court left the sentence of the activist unchanged and did not satisfy the appeal. The sentence then came into force.
