On July 12, 2019, masked assailants detained Rashid Maisigov, former editor of the Ingush opposition publication “Fortanga”. While being searched, a package of white powder was allegedly found. For a day, his whereabouts were unknown. According to his lawyer, law enforcement officials tortured the journalist in a prison in Nazran. On November 19, Maisigov was transferred to house arrest.
