The Supreme Court of Belarus sentenced the Ukrainian journalist to eight years in prison under a criminal article for espionage. In November 2017, the KGB of Belarus reported that it red-handed detained an intelligence officer of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine. The journalist was accused of creating an agent network. Pavlo Sharoyko was pardoned and released on October 4, 2019.
