A lawsuit against Cholpon Jakupova (human rights activist), Naryn Ayyip (columnist) and Dina Maslova (editor-in-chief) was filed in April 2017 by the Prosecutor General Indira Joldubayeva, demanding to recover 12 million soms in favor of President Almazbek Atambayev. The Prosecutor General also insisted on banning the defendants from leaving the country until a verdict was reached. The Oktyabrsky district court issued a ruling on April 26th satisfying the Kyrgyzs Republic's General Prosecutor's demands. The defendants failed to challenge it.
