The political commentator and co-founder of the website "Zanoza", together with his colleagues, was found guilty of insulting President Atambayev (in late 2017, but the trial continued into January 2018) for the published articles "The President's money: at whose expense the banquet is actually held". According to the prosecutor's office, the political commentator accused Atambayev of embezzling 50 million roubles from the Kyrgyzs Writers' Union. The claims were withdrawn later in 2018.
