Guseinov was arrested right in the centre of Baku by unknown individuals in civilian cloting: at the time the blogger had left a cafe and was heading to meet friends. A number of people ran up to him, covered his mouth, pushed him into a car and put a bag over his head. Later the police confirmed in court that Guseinov had been detained by police officers and put forward counter-accusations against the blogger. According to police, he was supposedly arrested for assault and showed "malicious disobedience" to the police's lawful demands. The court fined Guseinov 200 manat ($120) for disobeying police and released him.
