Borodin was attacked on November 10, 2017 when unknown assailants hit him on the head with an iron pipe after an interview with the channel "TV Rain" about his investigation of followers of Emperor Nicholas II and Natalia Poklonskaya called "The Sect of the Tsar-worshippers". The journalist did not rule our the two events being directly related.
