On May 30th, Deputy Prosecutor of Almaty, B. Adamov, initiated administrative proceedings against Almaty resident Marat Shibutov "on the grounds of an administrative offence under Article 120, part 3 of the Code of Administrative Crimes of the Republic of Kazakhstan (Breaking the terms of conducting an opinion poll related to elections without complying with the requirements of the electoral legislation). The reason for the proceedings was the poll "Will you go to the presidential elections on June 9th?" and "Who would you vote for in the presidential elections on June 9th?" (April 29th 2019), which M. Shibutov published on his Facebook page and on his channel on Telegram messenger. The court found M. Shibutov guilty of committing an administrative offense under article 120 of the Administrative Code of the Republic of Kazakhstan and imposed a fine in the amount of 37875 tenge.
